Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training
The training provides a comprehensive approach to learning evidence-based treatment for individuals to master the core competencies defined by the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD) and obtain the necessary training required to apply for the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP).

Cost
$100 Deposit – Fully Refunded after the completion of the entire program.
Training tuition waiver provided for participants who are in-state, based on funding from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
Out-of-state training tuition is $1,200.

Who Should Attend
People from many disciplines benefit from this training, including nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, and other clinical professionals; pharmacists; dental professionals; community health workers; staff from community-based organizations; substance use disorder and behavioral health counselors; and others.
Prerequisites
Course participants must comply with the following prerequisites:
- Be a healthcare worker/practitioner interested in providing evidence-based treatment to people who use tobacco and nicotine
- Must have at least two Agency Employer Recommendations
- Be tobacco-free for 6 months prior to course
Facilitators
Jenna Wintemberg, PhD, MPH, CHES, TTS/NCTTP and Tiffany Bowman, MSW, TTS
Jenna Wintemberg, PhD, MPH, CHES, NCTTP is an Assistant Teaching Professor of Health Sciences and Public Health at the University of Missouri, with more than a decade of experience in tobacco treatment. Jenna currently serves as a TTS co-facilitating MU Health Care’s outpatient cessation program, and is a certified TTS trainer, delivering an accredited curriculum to Missouri providers. In the past she has also provided one-on-one and group cessation services on a university campus and for Housing Authority properties. Wintemberg is an advocate for tobacco control policies and health systems transformation, currently serving on the board of Tobacco Free Missouri (formerly as Chair), the Missouri Eliminate Tobacco Use Initiative steering committee, and the University of Missouri Tobacco Taskforce. She developed, evaluated, and maintains an adolescent tobacco cessation toolkit in partnership with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and Missouri school nurses. Jenna also serves as a cessation trainer and consultant for Missouri Partners in Prevention, serving college campuses across the state. Jenna serves as the Hub Team Lead for the Missouri Vaping, Tobacco, and Nicotine Treatment ECHO (a virtual case-based learning community), to expand best practice tools and strategies for tobacco treatment statewide and regionally.
Tiffany Bowman, MSW, TTS/NCTTP joined the University of Missouri, School of Social Work Faculty in August 2022. Prior to her faculty role, Bowman served as the director for ThinkFirst Missouri and for over thirteen years in Student Affairs at Mizzou. Her experience includes harm reduction addressing opioid misuse and substance misuse prevention. Her background and experience include providing technical assistance for clean indoor air policies to campuses and communities around the state of Missouri, tobacco cessation, grant project oversight and management, and substance harm reduction on college campuses. Bowman has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Missouri State University and received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Missouri. Her career is dedicated to public health, safety, and health promotion.
Credit
Successful completion meets the tobacco treatment training requirement for the National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice.
This TTS Training Program has also been designated as an accredited activity for multiple continuing credit options including:

- LPC, Social Work, Psychology CEs
- Respiratory Care
Successful Completion
Successful completion of this activity, which includes participating in the educational offering, participating in the evaluation process, and completing the verification of attendance, enables the learner to satisfy the requirements for continuing education.

The University of Missouri – Columbia School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Missouri – Columba School of Medicine designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 29.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nursing Contact Hours
University of Missouri Sinclair School of Nursing is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Up to 29.23 nursing contact hours (including up to 3.49 Rx hours) will be awarded.
LPC, Social Work, Psychology, 50-minute hour CEs
The University of Missouri Continuing Education for Health Professions (CEHP) is part of an accredited university in the state of Missouri. As such, this program meets the requirements for Licensed Professional Counselors, Psychologists, and Social Workers with Missouri licenses. CEHP attests that this program contains 29.25 clock hours of instructional time. Licensed professionals measuring CE credit based on a 50-minute hour may claim up to 35.1 Contact Hours for full attendance at this program.
Respiratory Care
The Missouri Board for Respiratory Care has approved the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training for continuing education course approval.
